Our Properties
Our mission is to positively impact lower income people by providing affordable housing. Our programs support 900 families, or 1,900 people, within the county a year. HACD has 11 building and 389 units for the community we serve.
Briarwood Apartments
Owned and managed by The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb, Briarwood Apartments consists of 48 safe, decent and affordable apartments in 6 buildings:16 one-bedroom apartments, 24 two-bedroom apartments, and 8 three-bedroom apartments. Property accepts Housing Choice Vouchers.
Civic Apartments
Civic Apartments consists of 74 one-bedroom apartments in a 5-story building. Individuals and couples who meet the income limits established for a specific family size may occupy these apartments.
Garden Estates Apartments
Garden Estates Apartments offers housing for families: 4 two-bedroom handicap accessible apartments, 6 two-bedroom, and 6 three-bedroom apartments.
Lewis Court Apartments
Family apartments with 14 units, Lewis Court Apartments has 8 two-bedroom and 6 three-bedroom ranch-style apartments.
Mason Court Apartments
Family housing consisting of 12 two-bedroom apartments and 14 three-bedroom apartments.
Sequoya Apartments
Owned and managed by The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb, Sequoya Apartments consists of 3 buildings each with 4 units. This property provides housing in 9 one-bedroom apartments and 3 two-bedroom apartments for the elderly and/or disabled individuals or couples ONLY. This property receives rental subsidies from HUD. Income eligible households pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent.
Sunset View Apartments
Owned and managed by the Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb, Sunset View Apartments are located near downtown Hinckley. One- and two-bedroom safe, decent and affordable apartments available. Property accepts Housing Choice Vouchers.
Taylor Street Plaza
Taylor Street Plaza Apartments consists of 149 one-bedroom apartments in a 16-story building. Individuals and couples who meet the income limits established for a specific family size may occupy these apartments.

Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb
The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb will hold a Public Hearing regarding the FYB 04-1-2026 Annual Plan and 5-Year Capital Plan.
The hearing will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at our main office located at 310 N 6th St., DeKalb IL, 60115. Please see the draft plans here.
