Mandatory Denial of Assistance
If any member of the household has been evicted from federally-assisted housing in the last 3 years (HCV) or 5 years (Public Housing), for drug-related criminal activity. If it is determined that any household member is currently engaged in the use of illegal drugs. If there is reasonable cause to believe that any household member’s current use or pattern of use of illegal drugs, or current abuse or pattern of abuse of alcohol, may threaten the health, safety or right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents. If any household member has ever been convicted of drug-related criminal activity for the production or manufacture of methamphetamine. If any member of your household is subject to a registration requirement under any State Sex Offender Registration program or has ever been convicted of any criminal sex offense. If you do not provide the information that DCHA or HUD determines necessary. If you do not provide complete and true information to DCHA. If you owe any PHA money or have a record of unsuitable past performance in meeting financial obligations. May Be Denied Assistance If any adult household member has been convicted of a felony in the last ten years. If DCHA determines that any household member is currently engaged in or has engaged in, during a reasonable time before the family would receive assistance, certain types of criminal activity, such as: Drug related criminal activity Violent criminal activity Criminal activity that may threaten the health, safety, or right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents or persons residing in the immediate vicinity Criminal activity that may threaten the health or safety of property owners and management staff, and persons performing contract administration functions or other responsibilities on behalf of DCHA. If a family has a record of unsuitable past performance in meeting financial obligations including rent within the past five years. If a family has a record of disturbance of neighbors, destruction of property, or living or housekeeping habits at prior residences within the past five ears which may adversely affect the health, safety, or welfare of other tenants.
